4/1/07: Andrea did really well sleeping in a hotel last night. It was her first time sleeping away from home.
4/2/07: Andrea's pool outfit came today. We tried it on.
4/3/07: Andrea is no longer taking her evening nap. She gets a little tired so I've been letting her go to bed a tad earlier at night instead.
4/5/07: Andrea is sitting so well now. I put her on the floor with the boppy around her so that she can push off of it and also doesn't bang her head by falling back on the floor
4/6/07: Andrea got a new toy today - a lady bug, plush book. It is so cute. It was really hot today so she spent most of the day in just her diaper. Daddy had to install the air conditioning in the evening.
4/8/07: Andrea had a busy weekend, lots of visitors. The Easter bunny came and we hunted eggs this morning.
4/10/07: Andrea rolled front to back again today. She continues on the trend of once a week.
4/18/07: Andrea did really well on our vacation to Leavenworth. She slept in her playpen and did really well. She experienced her first hike in the Bjorn carrier, spent time in her stroller while shopping, and relaxed in front of the fireplace in our rooms. We even attempted to take her swimming, but the timing was bad and she was too hungry to enjoy it.
4/19/07: Andrea started cereal today.
4/21/07: We visited Grandpa Redden, Great-Grandma and Aunt Vicky today. Andrea enjoyed the attention. We went to a pizza parlor for dinner and she slept through all sorts of noise.
4/22/07: We spent most of the day with Grandma Sharon for her birthday. Andrea laughed at the dogs and had a wonderful time. She slept well on the way home though. :)
4/23/07: Andrea lifted herself to her knees for the first time today. It was only for a couple seconds, but it won't be long now.
4/24/07: She is doing pushups and lifting to her knees regularly. Wow! We had portraits taken today with Great-Grandma and Grandma Jan. Andrea was such a good baby. We wore her out, but managed to get some nice pictures. Click here to view. We went to visit Grandma Louise in the hospital and saw Grandpa Paul for his birthday. It was a busy day!
4/25/07: Andrea's appointment went fine today. She has dropped down to the 50th percentile for weight, but is still gaining so Doctor thinks it is okay. Her weight to length is 50th percentile. Her height to age is 80th percentile. Her head is only 25th percentile. Shots were awful. We are starting vegetables today. Sweet potatoes!
4/28/07: Andrea got her first sippy cup today. She loves it, although she seems to think chewing on the spout is better than sucking on it.
4/29/07: Andrea tried crawling today. She scooted one knee forward then tried to scoot the other forward and did a face plant!
5/1/07: Happy May Day! Andrea spent the afternoon in a box... really! I forgot her playpen when I went to Grandma's for the afternoon, so we used a clear bin and put a blanket in it for part of playtime. For naptime, she needed something longer so we used a large box with the blanket in it again. Andrea was an angel!
5/3/07: Andrea started on carrots today. Apples were started last Sunday, so we now have 4 foods (including the cereal). She is getting better and better at eating. She is a vocal eater. I thought she kept yelling at me because she was unhappy with the food, but I finally figured out she is growling at me for more. At least that is my current interpretation because she keeps opening her mouth for more. :)
5/4/07: Andrea is getting around on her own by scooting backwards. I have to watch out for her a little more. She even went around a corner today and thought it was the best thing ever.
5/6/07: Went to Grandpa Estep's for dinner today. Andrea got to play in a new exersaucer and had a grand time. :)
5/7/07: Mommy made green beans today for Andrea. So she can now have green vegetables too. She seemed to like them.
5/10/07: I made cereal from brown rice. Andrea is not crazy about it yet.
5/11/07: Andrea is big enough to sit up in a tub by herself now. Of course the tub has a little ring to keep her from sliding back or forward.
5/12/07: Went to Grandma Jeanette's today to plant flowers and go out for a Mother's Day breakfast. We had a nice time.
Tonight, after putting her to bed, I heard a loud noise coming from her room. I listened to it for a moment and realized that it sounded like a toy rolling. I went in and saw her reaching up and playing with her aquarium toy. I rolled her back to her back so she would go to sleep, but she just rolled over again and with amazing strength and balance she would push up on one arm and bat at the toy with the other arm. Luckily for me, she wore herself out quickly.
5/13/07: I always rotate which direction Andrea faces in the crib, so tonight she was at the wrong end to play with her aquarium. That didn't stop her from trying though. She wiggled down into the corner and got on her knees. She rocked so hard (trying to move forward, but can't crawl) that the whole crib shook. It was amazing to watch. With a lot of struggle, she managed to scoot a little closer and reached for it, but did a face plant when she missed by about an inch. It was impressive to watch. She rolled around and tried different angles and positions but never quite made it. She wore herself out trying though.
5/15/07: Andrea sure has been demanding lately. She seems to be tired of being on the floor. She is very happy being carried around, pushed in stroller, traveling in car, or downstairs watching new things and people. She gets bored on the floor and yells at Mommy to do something for her.
5/16/07: I'm not sure yet, but Andrea's gums seemed a little swollen today. Maybe teeth are coming? She didn't seem any fussier than usual so maybe not. We tried avocado today. She didn't love it, but ate some of it. She liked it when I mixed a little of her other foods with it. I think it will be an acquired taste, but very healthy and worth it. Plus, there is no cooking to make it edible for her so it is an easy food. :)
5/18/07: Andrea can roll both directions without problem. I hardly ever see her roll front to back, but I know she does it often in her crib. I check on her one minute and she is on her tummy then the next time she is on her back. Plus, I've seen her use that mode of transportation to get to the toy in her crib.
5/21/07: I made oatmeal for Andrea. She liked them.
5/22/07: Andrea is now 7 months!
5/22/07: Andrea and Mommy went to their first Mommy's group today. It was a long walk. Can't wait for the next one.
5/23/07: Andrea tried peas today. She seemed to like them just fine.
5/27/07: Andrea started pears today. I mixed them in with her cereal and she gobbled them up. Andrea is so mobile now. The funny thing is she doesn't really use her ability to roll around except for in her crib. In her crib she rolls back and forth and rotates to get where she wants. She doesn't do this as much in the living room. Although she can creep over and crab table legs now. The three of us went for a long walk today. Afterwards we stopped at TCBY for frozen yogurt. Daddy gave Andrea a taste of his and she loved it so much she kept trying to lean forward in her car seat and get more. Mommy didn't want her to have the nuts in dad's so we asked for a sample. Andrea was given her own little ice cream. She loved every teeny bite.
5/28/07: Happy Memorial Day! Grandma Jeanette and Great-Grandma came over for barbequed steaks, shrimp salad and corn on the cob today.
5/29/07: Andrea can go from sitting to floor and from floor to sitting! She did the latter for the first time today. I almost didn't believe it. What a big girl she is getting to be!
5/30/07: Andrea and Mommy went to our first play date today. All the girls were older than Andrea, but Andrea seemed to really enjoyed being there.
5/31/07: We have teeth!!!!! Two teeth started coming in on the bottom, I can feel the pointy edges. Awww!
6/1/07: Andrea started barley today.
6/2/07: We had dinner at Grandpa Estep's today. Andrea had her own dinner of peas, avocado and barley. She had fun in the Grandpa's exersaucer and with the new gift of a toy she received. She had an allergic reaction to something though. I don't know what, but she had a rash across her lower face, neck and some on her arms. It only lasted a half hour though and cleared up.
6/3/07: We went to Olive Garden for Grandma Jeanette's birthday today. Andrea sat in a restaurant high chair for the first time. She kept Mommy and Daddy busy dropping her toys and entertained us all. This morning we went for a short hike. Andrea went in her jogging stroller.
6/4/07: It really seems like she should be able to crawl. She wiggles around, sits up, turns, scoots, but still can not really travel. She will soon, I'm sure. She ate squash today.
6/7/07: Andrea started bananas today. Yummy!
6/8/07: Finally got a picture of her teeth...
6/9/07: Andrea started millet cereal today and attended her first wedding.
6/10/07: Andrea had another allergic reaction today. Dogs?
6/11/07: Andrea came to work with mommy today.
6/12/07: She is starting to pull herself up. She can only go to her knees so far, but she has the idea.
6/13/07: She is crawling and we have witnesses! It is tough to say when she started because she never really goes far, but she can crawl forward to grab something she wants. It won't be long before she is chasing the kitties.
6/14/07: Uncle Aaron and Aunt Amanda met Andrea for the first time today. :)
6/16/07: Pulled to a stand this morning. She was so pleased with herself. We went to Grandpa Estep's for a barbeque today. There was lots of family there. Andrea had a hard time taking a nap, but enjoyed watching all the people and seeing her cousin, Baby Sheldon, again.
6/17/07: We went to dinner with Grandma Jan, G-Gma Kurzrock, Uncle Aaron and Aunt Amanda tonight. It was a wonderful dinner. Andrea looked cute and was allowed to sample some of Mommy's green beans. Aunt Amanda helped me give Andrea her bath when we got home.
6/18/07: Mommy and Andrea went on another playdate today. This was a walk in a nearby nature center followed by a little playtime. It was nice to have Andrea watch some other toddlers playing in the grass. Andrea was hungry so Mommy shared some of her cheese with her. Yummy!
6/19/07: Andrea is really fussy lately. She cries whenever I try to put her to sleep and fusses much more during the day as well. I'm debating the cause: maybe a combo of teething and separation anxiety. Andrea ate lentils for the first time today. We are moving into protein-rich foods now.
6/20/07: She is drinking out of a sippy cup much better now. She even has one without handles that she can pick up herself and drink out of. Andrea had a happier day today. She is still crying when I put her to bed and was very unhappy tonight but I went in and sat with her and she played for a while before sleeping. As for food, Andrea had flax seed for the first time today.
6/23/07: Took Andrea to the zoo this morning.
6/25/07: Andrea swung in a swing at the park today. She laughed the whole time. :)
6/26/07: Andrea is eating broccoli now.
6/28/07: Andrea has a cold. She is sniffling a lot today with a stuffy nose. :(
6/30/07: We drove to Kennewick last night. Andrea did really well in the car and went to sleep just fine. She is enjoying the dogs at Grandma Sharon's house today and playing with Grandpa Tom and family.
