10/22/06 8:01am Andrea is born! 7lb 8oz, 20 1/4 inches.

10/23/06: Andrea is doing great.  She passed her hearing test and was very tolerant of all the procedures at the hospital.  We got to come home from hospital around noon.

10/25/06: 1st doctor's appt,  6lb 12oz, but milk just came in today so should turn around immediately.

10/26/06: First bath today.  Waited for Daddy to get home from work so that he could help.  Andrea hated it, as you can tell by the picture...

10/28/06: Andrea made her first trip to the grocery store today.  She was calm and slept half the time.

10/29/06: 1-week old today!

11/1/06: 2nd doctor's appt went well.  Andrea is already up to 7lb 13oz and has grown a 1/4 inch.  Yeah for weight gain, no longer have to make sure she eats every 2 hours.  That was a pound gained in 7 days!  Her hemotomas (sp?) are not dissipating yet, so they took a bunch of blood.  Her results were normal, so it will just take longer than normal for the bumps to go away.

11/3/06: Today is Andrea's due date!  Wow, how strange that she is already 12 days old.

11/5/06: Two weeks old today.  Went for her first trip to the mall (mom desperately needed out of the house).

11/8/06: Andrea has decided she prefers to sleep in someone's arms rather than her bassinet.  This is making the nights longer for mommy!

11/9/06:  Mommy is guessing that Andrea weighs close to 9 lbs now.

11/10/06: Andrea went to have her first professional photos taken today, but she didn't like it.  She cried the whole time and mommy didn't want pictures of her crying.  We got a couple of our own pictures when we came home...

11/12/06: "3 weeks old and I went out for dinner for the first time!"

11/13/06:  On our postal scale, Andrea weighs 9 1/2 lbs.  Wow, she is growing fast!

11/15/06:  Andrea slept for 4 hours straight last night.  Mommy was very confused when she woke up and realized how much time had passed.  Andrea ate and was changed then when back to sleep for another 4 hours.

11/16/06: Andrea slept for just over 4 hours again.  Only one long stretch this time, but so excited about it.  Andrea is having really tough evenings though.  Mommy and daddy think she is dealing with gas because she kicks and cries even while trying to eat.  We give her drops, but evening is very hard on all of us.

11/18/06: Okay, the long sleep stretches are gone.  Back to every 2-3 hours.

11/19/06: Dave fed Andrea her breast milk by bottle this morning.  Mom still had to get up for a little bit, but it was so nice to get the extra rest. 

11/20/06: 4 weeks old!

11/21/06: Andrea is have a hard time.  She gets real upset, kicking and crying, usually in the evenings.  She seems to be having trouble with her tummy or gas.  Yesterday morning she was crying then threw up and immediately calmed down.  It is hard on mommy and daddy to watch her scream and not be able to help her.  We have tried all the tricks that anyone suggests.  Tonight the nurse wants us to try feeding her an ounce of water.  Cross your fingers!

11/22/06: 1 month old today!  Andrea had a wonderful day.  She watched her Baby Einstein video and was alert for long periods.  No crying fits today. Mom was so happy!

11/23/06: Andreas first Thanksgiving!  Grandpa Paul and Louise came over for Turkey.

11/26/06: Caught Andrea's smile on camera today.  So excited!

11/29/06: Saw more smiles today.  Tried on her Christmas outfit, but she got very angry at me.

12/1/06: Andrea weighed 11lb 11oz on our home scale today (with diaper & onsie on).  Can't wait to see what her weight is at next appt in two weeks.

12/3/06: The 3 of us went to a CPR class today.  We learned how to take care of Andrea if she ever chokes or stops breathing.  It was a great class.

12/4/06: Andrea started looking at her mobile yesterday.  She watches the animals and seems to try and talk to them.  Mommy is so excited because she has ignored them until now.

12/6/06: Andrea is calming down a little.  She seems to be entertaining herself a little more.  She will lay in her bassinet and watch her mobile or stare at the window for much longer than she used to.  Yeah!

12/10/06:  Andrea went to church for the first time today.  She slept through the worship then we spent the rest of the time in the nursery.  She refused a bottle today.  Dave and I are going to have to work hard to reintroduce it so he can feed her once in a while.

12/13/06:  We went to the doctor's office this morning.  Andrea now weighs 12lb 9oz!  She is 23 inches.  Both are on the high end for her age, especially since she was 2 weeks early.  He weight puts her in the 95th percentile by age, and her height puts her in 80th percentile.  When you compare her height vs. weight she is in the 60th percentile--so doing really well!  Andrea has been having a really hard time with throwing up.  In the past week she has thrown up at least once a day.  She has always had trouble but it seems worse recently.  They don't seem to concerned since she is gaining plenty of weight.  In fact, they agree with me that she may be eating too much and causing herself to throw up.  It seems she eats to comfort herself but then makes herself hurt and tries to eat more (remember, this is just my theory).  We tried to give her a pacifier, but like the bottle she has totally rejected them.  She just screams when you try to give her one.  Doctor is encouraging me to stretch out her feedings--easier said than done when she is screaming to eat!  Andrea also got 5 shots today, poor girl!

12/15/06: Andrea loves her baths.  Either in the kitchen sink with Daddy or in the bathtub with Mommy.  We have an infant tub, but she prefers to be submerged more.

12/17/06: Andrea caught Mommy's cold.  :(

12/19/06: Jackie came over to visit Andrea today. Andrea is outgrowing her clothes already.  She can still wear some 3 month but is moving into 3-6 month size.

12/20/06: Andrea is now 12lb 15oz!  They gave her Zantac for her reflux and discovered thrush in her mouth so have medicine for that as well.  Poor little girl.  She really dislikes taking medicines, especially now with a stuffy nose.

12/22/06:  We drove over mtns.  Andrea did great until last hour.  I'm sure she was tired of the car seat. 

12/25/06:  Andrea's first Christmas!

12/29/06: Andrea slept almost all day today.  I've quit giving her the Zantac.  It didn't seem to be helping and sometimes the dose made her throw up anyway.  Her cold is breaking up but she is in the yucky stage of gagging all the time.

12/31/06: Andrea is enjoying her new toys.  She is reaching out and touching with her left hand once in a while.
